Improve Skin’s Texture with Copper Pillowcases

By now, we all know that the way we sleep can influence the way we look. For example, sleeping on one side more than the other can deepen wrinkles on that side. And sleeping on your back with your head slightly elevated can reduce morning puffiness.

Now, in a recent study, scientists in South Korea have discovered that sleeping on pillowcases that contain copper oxide may improve skin’s appearance and reduce facial wrinkles.

Copper controls the secretion of extracellular skin proteins and stabilizes the extracellular matrix. The researchers wrote: “As copper can be absorbed through intact skin, we reasoned that sleeping on pillowcases containing copper-impregnated fibers would reduce skin wrinkles.”

In the study, they examined the skin conditions of 61 participants after four and eight weeks of sleeping on the copper oxide-containing pillowcases. Using 3-D imaging analysis, they measured three roughness parameters.

The average reduction per month in the roughness parameters was approximately 9 percent. In fact, participants sleeping on the copper-containing pillowcases demonstrated a significant decrease of crow’s feet after just four weeks.

The conclusion? “Sleeping on copper oxide-containing pillowcases results in reduction of wrinkles depth and overall improvement of skin’s appearance.”

Stay tuned to find out when these pillowcases will hit the market.
